Landscape, hydrological and forest restoration

A landscape restoration project of a degraded space -either naturally, or due to works or other actions- consists of the description and projects of the different restoration works necessary to achieve:

  • a final integration of all elements of the surrounding environmental affected by the works to be executed
  • a landscape improvement of the degraded space

Among the actions proposed one might include:

  • geomorphologic restoration
  • plant restoration
  • landscape restoration
  • restorations related to uses and social functions

Among other actions, we might find the improvement of the delivery of slopes matching the natural terrain, planting vegetation to stabilize slopes, the replacement of affected plants, hydro-seeding, planting along linear paths and channels, landscaping surfaces and access areas, creating new elements like viewpoints, etc.

In all these projects, techniques like 3D imaging, photographic simulations of the actions and ArcView GIS applications for mapping visibility, visual basins, etc., play a key role.

Hydrological and Forestry Restoration is a type of integrated planning of the natural environment, in this case in order to encourage soil protection and conservation. It is based on regulation of water basins through various activities ranging from reforestation, cattle planning, the revegetation of specific areas affected by erosion or even projects with corrective hydraulic works (dams, channels, walls, breakwaters, etc...)
